How we research, write, source and correct our content. Tax touches people's money, so we take accuracy seriously and try to be honest about what we are unsure of.

Why this matters
Our purpose
We explain India's taxes in plain language and provide simple tools and data, so ordinary taxpayers can understand the rules that affect them. We are an independent platform, not a government body, and our content is general information rather than personalised advice.
Sourcing and accuracy
- We rely on official, primary sources — the Income Tax Department, the GST portal, CBIC, and Union Budget documents — rather than second-hand summaries.
- We cite the sources we rely on so you can check them yourself.
- Where a rule is uncertain, disputed or newly changed, we say so rather than overstating certainty.
- We distinguish official rules from our own explanation or opinion.
Review and dating
Time-sensitive guides carry a “last reviewed” date and, where relevant, the financial year they describe. We revisit them when the rules change — for example after a Budget — and update the date when we do.
Independence
We are non-partisan and independent. We do not campaign for or against any party or government. Advertising (where shown) does not influence our content, and we do not accept payment to change what a guide says.
Use of AI tools
We may use software tools, including AI, to help draft or check content. Any such content is reviewed by a person against primary sources before it is published. We do not publish machine-generated figures without checking them.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we want to fix it. Tell us through the contact form (choose “Report a correction”), ideally with an official source, and we will review it and update the content where needed.
Calculators and data
Our calculators are estimation tools: they state their assumptions and show which financial year they use, and the figures they produce are estimates rather than official assessments. Data we publish is tied to its source and period, and we do not invent totals or comparisons that the underlying data does not support.

What is still open (owner to confirm)
- Confirm who holds final editorial sign-off and the named point of contact for corrections.
- Confirm the target review cadence for time-sensitive guides (for example, after each Union Budget).
- Confirm the exact wording owner wants on AI assistance, if any tools are used in drafting.
