Internship

Learn by helping explain India's taxes

If you care about public finance and clear communication, we would like to hear from you. This is a chance to do real, careful work on tax research, data and writing.

Please read first — we want to be honest

We are an early-stage, independent platform run by a small founding team. We are not advertising a fixed number of positions, a guaranteed stipend, or any formal university tie-up. If you are interested, write to us and we will be straight with you about what is realistically possible right now, including whether a role is paid or voluntary.

What you might work on

Areas we could use help with

Depending on your interests and our needs at the time, you might help with one or more of these.

Research

Help find, read and summarise official tax and budget documents, and track down primary sources for our guides and data.

Data

Help organise fiscal data carefully — checking figures against their sources and flagging anything that does not add up.

Writing

Help turn complex rules into clear, plain-language explanations that an ordinary taxpayer can follow.

Review

Help fact-check and proofread, so what we publish is accurate and easy to read.

Who tends to fit well

What we look for

  • Curiosity about how taxes and public money work in India.
  • Care with facts — a habit of checking a claim against its source.
  • Clear writing, or a willingness to work at it.
  • Honesty about what you do and do not know.

Students, recent graduates and self-taught learners are all welcome. Formal qualifications matter less to us than care and curiosity.

How to apply

Get in touch

Use our contact form and choose the “College / internship” topic. Tell us a little about yourself, what interests you, and roughly how much time you could give. There is no formal deadline — we read messages as they come in and reply when we can.

Union of Taxpayers is an independent platform and not a government body. We never ask applicants for payment.
